My name is David Candia, a student enrolled in Game Design at Sacramento New Technology High School. While developing two game design projects, Controller Destroyers and Tank Battles, many core aesthetics of play were implemented. Both games share similar themes of competition and challenge. In Controller Destroyers, players are tested on their speed and dexterity while playing against another person. Tank Battles adds new aesthetics to play. To win, players must be the last tank standing in a battle. To do this, players must be accurate, have a strategy, and knowledgeable about the game and other tanks. Tank Battles also has aspects of discovery and expression involved as well. Due to the eight tanks and their wildly different play styles allow players to choose the tank that is most comfortable for them. Before playing every tank, players must discover, on their own, what the game has to offer in terms of weapons, power ups, and variety when 4 players are involved.
