Project Overview
First, we read the book Double Helix by Nancy Werlin as a class. Then, I was assigned a group along with a genetic disease to research. My group researched ALS and created a poster board to present to the school. In our presentation, we had to cover various aspects of the disease such as diagnosis, genetic markers, and social impacts.
Knowledge and Thinking
I think that I grew most in the field of knowledge and thinking because of all the information that I learned about ALS. It's amazing to me how much we actually don't know about ALS. I also think that I grew in oral proficiency because we gave the presentation at least three times.
